Thinking of getting yourself a pair of statement earrings? Here are a few hair style ideas that will help you show off your new bejewelled accessories in style!
What Will I Need To Achieve These Hairstyles For Statement Earrings?
If your earrings and dress are quite intricate, you may be looking for a glossy, high end yet understated hair style that will let your outfit take centre stage. The perfect hair style for this is a glossy low pony. Here’s how to achieve it in a few steps:
Step 1: Brush, brush, brush
Using a detangling brush, brush through your hair and make sure there are no knots or tangles.
Step 2: Heat protect and straighten
Because we want our hair to look extra slick and glossy, we’re going to straighten our hair, but not before using some heat protecting spray.
Step 3: Go for a middle parting
Place a fine toothed comb at the bridge of your nose and point it upwards. That’s where your middle parting should be.
Step 4: Using your detangler, pull hair into a low pony
Brush through to ensure your hair is completely tangle-free , pull your hair into a low ponytail and secure with a band. To conceal the band, take a hair strand from the back of your pony and wrap around, securing with a pin at the back.
Step 5: Finish with hair spray
You can either finish with hair spray by spraying your hair directly, or spray the palm of your hand and tap your hair down for extra gloss, shine and glamour!
And now, the earrings!
Looking great!
2nd Hair Style Idea: Rock Chick Side Braid
If earrings are not your thing, but you love a cool rock’n’roll ear cuff, this cool and edgy look is definitely for you! Here’s how to achieve a fabulous side braid.
Step 1: Detangle, detangle, detangle
To make sure your hair is completely knot and tangle free, brush through thoroughly.
Step 2: Heat protect and straighten
To add some shine, use heat protecting spray and straighten your tresses.
Step 3: Go for a side parting
To make this look really edgy, go for a side parting using a tail comb. Grab the hair you will need for the braid and section off the remainder.
Step 4: Time to braid
You can go for either a Dutch or French braid to achieve this look. Start braiding and continue into a plait. Keep it tight! Pin the braid underneath the remainder of your hair.
Step 5: Hair spray time
To make sure your edgy new look stays perfect all day (or night!), finish with strong hold hair spray
And now, the ear cuff!
Totally rock’n’roll!
3rd Hair Style Idea: Red Carpet Ready Ponytail
If you are keen on something more high octane than a low pony, a glamourous red carpet ready pony may be the right hair style for statement earrings for you. Here is how to achieve it:
Step 1: Brush though thoroughly
This is going to be an extra sleek updo, so make sure you brush through your hair thoroughly
Step 2: Grab your backcombing brush to gather your hair at the crown
Note: If your hair is not straight – you may want to straighten it now. If you are happy with it, you can straighten it once your pony is ready. To make sure the surface your head is as smooth as possible, without any naughty flyaways, brush through your hair with a backcombing brush, gathering it all at the crown. Secure with a band.
Step 3: Spray your backcombing brush with hair spray
This is any hair dresser’s secret weapon! Spray either a backcombing brush (or even a toothbrush) with hair spray and brush through the surface of your hair for extra smoothness and precision.
Step 4: Conceal the band
To conceal the band, just take a small hair strand from the back of the pony and wrap it around, concealing with a hair pin.
Step 5: Straighten the ends and finish with hair spray
For extra gloss and glamour, straighten the ends of your pony and finish the look with hair spray.
Time for earrings!
Looking extra glam!
4th Hair Style Idea: The Slick Back Look
This is a perfect hair style for statement earrings or statement makeup as it completely uncovers your face and ears while remaining both glamourous and edgy. Here’s how to get the look:
Step 1: Brush, brush, brush
To make hair easy to style it’s important to brush through your hair using a detangler.
Step 2: Section off the front top bit of hair
To start, section off the front top bit of hair and clip it away. Take the hair from the front, all the way to the crown to ensure we have enough hair to conceal teased tresses underneath.
Step 3: Smooth both sides and pin in place
Using a backcombing brush, smooth both side sections and pin them back placing the pins in an X shape. Spray both sides with hair spray for extra hold. If you want to rock a “wet” look, apply gel or serum to the sides.
Step 4: Part the top hair into two sections and tease
It’s time to work with the hair you had clipped away. Part it into two, clip the front one out of the way and tease the one that’s at the crown. Go back to the front one and part again and repeat the teasing process. You can do this three or four times. Brush through and neaten the hair that will be placed on the top of your backcombed tresses.
Step 5: Finish with hair spray
To make sure the finish of this look is smooth and neat, tidy up the top by brushing through with a backcombing brush and hairspray. Again, you can go for a toothbrush too (as long as you don’t use it for brushing teeth after!). Finish with a whole lot of hair spray.
And now for the… Earrings!
Stunning!
5th Hair Style Idea: Vintage Waves
If you want to show off your romantic look with a touch of old school glam, go for vintage waves with a side parting. This hair style is simply perfect for statement earrings matched both with a day or night outfit.
Step 1: Detangle and brush through
Brush through your hair, making sure it is completely knot and tangle free.
Step 2: Apply heat protection and go for a deep side parting
Using a heat protection spray is really important to make sure your hair isn’t damaged because of the heat in electrical hair stylers. Go for a deep side parting and clip away the part of your hair you are not going to curl straight away.
Step 3: Time to curl
Using a wand, start curling away from the face. Count to 10, release and gently pull the strand. Repeat on all of your hair apart from the top front on the other side – the side fringe area. Curl the fringe area last, making sure the hair is at the base of the wand for maximum volume.
Step 4: Brush though the curls gently and smooth the side
Brush though the curls away from the face using a wide toothed comb or brush. For extra volume, brush the fringe area up. Add serum to the side hair making it smoother and flatter. Tuck it behind the ear. Continue to add a bit of serum to all of the curls using your fingers.
Step 5: Hair spray time
Finish the look with hair spray. For maximum hold, go for a strong hold hair spray.
