Step 1: Separate the Hair in Two
Create a centre parting and separate the hair into two sections (left and right). Take both sections of hair and bring them around to one side.
Step 2: Back to Front
To start the plait, take a small strand of hair from the back of one section and bring it over to the front.
Step 3: Repeat
Once you’ve brought the strands at the back of your hair over the front, repeat this on the other side. This will have now created one section of the fishtail plait, keep plaiting the hair down remembering to gently pull the hair to keep the plait tight.
Step 4: Add a Hairband
As you near the end of the plait, secure it with a hairband to ensure the hair stays in place.
Step 5: Hairspray
Once the plait is complete fix the hair with hairspray.
Step 6: Relaxed Fishtail (Optional)
If you’re going for a more relaxed and casual look, remove the hairband and gently pull the plait apart from the centre. Work your way up from the bottom of the plait to the top, remembering to separate out both sides to keep it even. When you're finished put the hairband back in place and your look is complete.
