Unicorns are by far our favourite creature (we don’t care whether they’re real or not), so what better way to finish off our mythical make-up look than by coiffing locks into a perfectly formed horn? Celebrity hairstylist Dan Lynes shows you how…
1.Start by misting hair with VO5 Volume Blow-Dry spray to prep, protect and get it ready for styling. Next, create a triangular section at the front of the head, collecting hair from each temple, taking it back to a point in the centre of the head, by the crown, using the tail of a backcomb brush.
2. Tie hair into a ponytail before twisting and working the hair around the base, securing it with a grip. Using the rest of the tail, work the hair into a horn shape, misting hair with hairspray and securing with grips as you go to lock it in place. Working the shape up gradually, bend a Kirby grip to create a hook and push the horn in to secure it. Spritz with VO5 Ultimate Hold Hairspray and give it a few seconds to dry.
3. Create a high ponytail by loosely gathering hair into a high ponytail on the top of the head. Take a small section of the tail and wrap it around the base to hide the hairband and then secure with a grip.
4. To add shape and movement, take sections of the hair and wrap them around the wand. Hold for a couple of seconds and then take the wand away. Spray with coloured hairspray. Repeat using different coloured sprays until you’ve styled all of the hair. Finish with a final mist of hairspray, lifting the tail up while you spray for added volume.
