Whenever the words 'snake' and 'hair' come together it's not unusual to picture a full-on Medusa-inspired 'do. But our snake braid look is far from a fancy dress one-hit-wonder.
Instead, it’s a sophisticated twist (well more of a tug – you’ll see!) on a classic, that will make you look a braiding pro. Psssssst! It’s actually super easy to do, but we won’t tell if you don’t…

Step 1 – Straighten Section
To give yourself the best starting point, brush through the section of hair that you’re planning to braid and straight if your hair is wavy/curly.
Step 2 – Braid
Split your chosen section into three and braid from root to tip. This braid is as basic as they come, but if you need a little help all you do is take the outer section and swap with the middle section, then alternate sides.
Step 3 – Tug braid upwards
Once you’ve reached the bottom of your braid, do not fasten. Instead tug at the braid and pull upwards. Then readjust the braid until it forms the snake-inspired shape. Once you’re happy with your braid, secure with an elastic band.
Step 4 – Finish with hairspray
To keep your braid in place for longer, finish with a spritz of hairspray. You can choose to style your braid however you want, pull it into a ponytail for a quirky daytime look or go for a glamorous bun if you’re heading to a more sophisticated soirée.
