Trying to prep your look for date night, but all you have in your amo is a basic smokey eye? Well, we asked profesh makeup artist Bekki Mitchell for a fresh, new look that’ll knock bae’s socks off. The best part? It’s just a revamp of your daily makeup, so you can achieve this look al-desko (which is great, since Valentine’s Day is on a school night this year!).
1. Burn baby burn
We’re flying past hot and going straight for fire with this look. The I Heart Makeup Chocolate Elixir palette has the perfect colours for this. Take the burnt orange shade on a fluffy eyeshadow brush and sweep the pigment on to your lid and through the crease, blending out any harsh edges as you go.

2. Red hot
To deepen the crease and add some definition, we need to go darker. Using a smaller brush, take the red eyeshadow from the Chocolate Elixir palette and add that pigment to the crease and outer corner of your eyelid.
TOP TIP: The denser the brush, the better the colour payoff.
3. Golden embers
It’s date night – so we added a lil shimmer action in this look. There’s a gorge golden shade in the Chocolate Elixir palette that’s perfect for this. Pack the sparkly pigment onto the centre of your lid for a hot-to-trot halo eye.
4. Over ‘n’ under
To make this look really pop, we need to smoke out the lower lash line. Take the same burnt orange shade you used on your eyelid and blend it into the roots of your lower lashes. A small brush is best for precision here, but you can always go back in with a fluffy one to blend out the pigment.
5. Line and dine
This look wouldn’t be complete without a cheeky bit of eye liner now would it? Grab your go-to liner (we love the Gosh 24 Hour Pro Liner – it’s super-soft so goes on like a dream).

6. Lash ‘n’ dash
Pop on some falsies – you know the drill. We used Ardell Wispies (113 if you were wondering) and gave them a lick of Tanya Burr Selfie Story mascara to finish off.

7. Time to face the music
You’re almost done! Give your face a dusting of bronzer – B. Bronzer is our go to. Then sweep some highlighter onto your cheek-bones, Cupid’s bow and down the centre of your nose.
This look is all about the eyes, so finish off with a subtle lip. I Heart Makeup Lip Lava glosses are smooth, easy to wear and long lasting (wink, wink!). We went for the shade Forgiven… it’s warm, it’s nude, it’s perfect.
