Halloween is just around the corner. It’s that time of the year when you can have fun with your makeup, outfit or costume. If you’re keen on experimenting with cosmetics this Halloween, you can simply create a scary yet glamorous look using the products you may already have in your beauty bag.
In this tutorial, we’ll create the classic witch look. It’s a solid Halloween favourite and will definitely make you stand out from the crowd in any themed event or party. Let’s begin our transformation.
Prep Your Skin Before You Start
We will be using a lot of product for this fun look, so it is important that your skin is cleansed, toned and hydrated. Wash your face and follow with your usual daily moisturiser. To ensure your makeup stays put for as long as possible, add primer to your skin at this stage.
Step 1 – Foundation
Using a brush or beauty sponge, apply liquid foundation evenly to your face and neck. After you have finished, use a light concealer on the area under your eyes. If you want to go for a look that is more dramatic, opt for foundation that is a shade lighter than you usually go for. This will make the colours really pop on your cheeks, eyes and lips.
Step 2 – Prep Your Eye Lids
Using an eye shadow brush, apply a neutral colour onto your eye lids. Use white eye shadow around the tear duct area to brighten and enlarge your eyes.
Step 3 – Green Eye Shadows
Next, apply a highly pigmented green eye shadow generously across the entire eyelid. Don’t forget the under eye area, it also needs to be lined with green eye shadow or eye liner. We want our eyes to really stand out!
Step 4 – Mascara
This is a dark and glamorous look, so make sure you opt for a volumising mascara. The best ones to use to achieve this look are those with a thick brush. Apply the mascara generously – the more dramatic, the better.
Step 5 – Bronzer
With an angled brush, apply a touch of bronzer under your cheek bones. This will help sculpt and define your natural bone structure.
Step 6 – Blusher
Add a peach-colored blusher to the apples of your cheek using a wide brush. Don’t be tempted to add too much – just a light dusting will look great.
Step 7 – Go Green
The next step is to use your eye shadow as if it was your contouring kit. Using a wide angled brush, generously apply green eye shadow to your cheekbones. Imagine you are contouring and strobing… Only using a lot of green eye shadow instead of highlighter and bronzer!
Step 8 – Dark Lipstick
The perfect Halloween witch look wouldn’t be complete without a rich burgundy or deep purple shade of lipstick or lip gloss. A matte liquid lipstick could also be a fantastic option to achieve this look.
Step 9 – False Eyelashes
To make those peepers really pop, go for false eye lashes. If you are not sure how to apply false lashes, read our step-by-step guide.
Step 10 – Time to Accessorise (Optional)
If you want to go for the classic Halloween witch look, you may want to get that iconic witch’s hat – it’s always very popular and you’ll be able to re-use it year after year or lend it to your friends.
You can add a dramatic touch to the look by wearing a long black dress. If you’re keen on getting coloured hair spray or chalk, opt for green and add some fun coloured strands to your locks.
Enjoy this bewitchingly beautiful look. Happy Halloween!
