How to do a cut crease

If you’re a fan of the glam and you haven’t quite mastered the cut-crease trick yet, you gonna learn today! This technique will take any eye makeup look to the next level. It’ll give you more definition, more depth – not to mention, you’ll look like an absolute pro! To give us the lowdown on how to nail a cut crease, we asked Tammi from @makeupbytammi to give us a lesson…

Prime to prep

First up, you’ve gotta prep your eyes with something that’s gonna help the shadow stay where it’s meant to. Use your finger to cover your eyelids with Revolution Pro Eye Elements Eyeshadow Primer Central.

Apply transition shade

The first colour you want to apply is your transition shade, which is makeup speak for a shade you can blend out into your skin tone. This helps make the movement from deep-crease colour to skin more seamless. Tammi has gone with the shade Journey from the Revolution Pro Regeneration Eyeshadow Palette Trends in Azure. Use a fluffy brush to apply this to your crease with windscreen-wiper motions, then blend out the edges for a gorgeous blown-out look.

Deepen that crease

Now to add more depth and definition. Use the shade Voyage from the same palette and apply it to your crease, this time in a more controlled way than before, focusing the product in the socket line. For even more drama, add a touch of the gorge plum shade Vindicate from the Revolution Pro Regeneration Eyeshadow Palette in Unleashed to your outer corners.

Cut that crease

Time for the main event – cutting the crease, which is a fancy way of applying eyeshadow to give a harsh line at the crease, for more definition and GLAM. Take some of the B. Flawless Concealer Duo on a flat concealer brush and press it onto your lid. Start at the inner corner and stamp the product across your eyelid to the centre, following the shape of your eyeball (watch the video – it makes so much more sense when you see it!). Blend the outer edge of the concealer into the outer corner shadow with your finger. If you need to use a touch of Vindicate to help you, go for it!

Set with some sparkle

To set that creamy concealer and give your look the wow factor, apply the lilac shade from the Revolution Pro Supreme Eyeshadow Palette in Allure. You want this pigment to pack a punch, so press it on with a flat eyeshadow brush everywhere you applied the concealer. Make sure you keep the top line at the crease as neat as poss for max impact.

Tidy up

You might find that some of the action in the crease wants a bit more love, so go back in with Unleashed to deepen any areas that need it – use a really light touch, though!

Smoke it out

So far, we’ve paid a lot of attention to the lid and not much to the lower lash line, so everything is lookin’ a lil top heavy. To even it out, blend the shade Voyage from the Revolution Pro Regeneration Eyeshadow Palette Trends in Azure along your lower lash line, then deepen the outer corner using Vindicate. Load up those lashes with mascara and you’re done!
