How to: Ombre Glitter Lips

There’s nothing wrong with a little extra sparkle when your getting ready to go out and nothing makes an impact quite like deep red glitter lips. You might be thinking ‘that looks a little too tricky for me’ but ombre glitter lips are super simple to achieve. Read this tutorial to find out how to obtain pouting perfection.

What Will I Need?

To get ombre glitter lips you’ll need:

Lip Liner or Black Eyeliner
Lip Brush
Red/Crimson Lipstick
Glitter – you can choose from a variety of colours with Glitter Lips
Lip Gloss
Cotton Bud

Step 1: Exfoliate

Using a clean cotton bud, gently rub the bud back and forth between your lips to exfoliate them. This will remove any dry or dead skin leaving them feeling silky smooth

Step 2: Apply Lip Balm

Applying lip balm to the entire lip, this will moisturise your lips helping to keep them hydrated and also provide better application for your products.

Step 3: Outline

Using a dark lip liner or black eyeliner carefully outline your lips, this adds definition and when later blended will help to create the ombre effect.

Step 4: Fill In

Apply lipstick with a lip brush on the inner section of your lips, a lip brush is better to use as it allows more precise application. We don’t want to smudge the lipstick and lip liner just yet.

Step 5: Blend

Now it’s time to create the ombre effect, as mentioned in our Glitter Nails article the ombre effect is basically a gradient. For this look the gradient should be from the darker outline to deep red inner lips, use the lip brush to gently blend the two colours together.

Step 6: Re-apply Red Lipstick

To emphasise the red tone and make sure they haven’t left any parts out, go over the inner lip again with your lip brush.

Step 7: Lip Gloss

Before you apply the glitter, it will need something to stick to. The best product to use is a clear lip gloss, not only will this keep your lips super smooth but the gloss acts like an adhesive.

Step 8: Glitter Glory

Now it’s time for the glitter – we know you were waiting for it. Use your trusty lip brush to cover your lips with a generous coating of glitter and… lips complete!
