After 20 years of being a makeup artist, it’s fair to say she’s seen her share of come ’n’ gos in the cosmetics world. That’s why we asked her to break down the bits and bobs of millennial beauty that are worth your time. Here are six products and techniques that are gonna work for you, no probs.

Priming

Primers have really taken off in recent years. They’re great for more mature skin as they even out the complexion and can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They also give your foundation the staying power it needs to last all day.

Contour and highlight

Thanks to the Kardashians, everyone wanted to learn the art of contour and highlight, but we were aaaaall a little late to the game. Turns out Marilyn Monroe used this face-sculpting secret every day – who knew?

Contour: To add definition to your bone structure, apply the darker shade of B. Cream Contour and Highlight Stick to the hollows of your cheeks and under your jawline. Blend out the product by pressing it into your skin with a B. Flat Contour Brush.

Highlight: Use the lighter side of the pen to apply highlight to the highest points of your face, such as your cheekbones, bridge of your nose and Cupid’s bow. Again, press and pat the product to blend out.

Bronzer

Sometimes we all need that sunkissed look, but it can easily go VERY wrong, but a light wash of bronzer can really lift your complexion and give you your glow back. Use a cream product, like Cassie Lomas Whipped Bronzer, if you want to avoid powder and keep your war paint nice and dewy. Pick up the product on a duo fibre brush and blend into the back of your hand to get rid of the excess – a little goes a long way with this stuff!

Pigments

Pigments are just a loose eyeshadow, which is great for getting an all-over-the-eyelid wash of colour. Put some of the powder into the lid, then dip your fluffy blending brush into it. Tap off any excess product, then apply to your eyelid. There are lots of colours to choose from, but we went for B. Cassie Lomas Glitter Pigment in Shine On.

Setting powder

A matte powder can flatten the appearance of your skin, but you need the stuff to set your makeup in place – so what do you do? Cassie’s tip is to use a powder that has a light shimmer, like B. HD Radiance Powder in Peachy. We used it to set and blend the contour and highlight we put on the cheeks. Use a fluffy brush and buff the powder into your skin for a youthful glow.

Liquid lipstick

If you’re after high pigmentation, which doesn’t budge, you need to get a liquid lipstick in your makeup bag. You apply it like lip gloss and it dries like lipstick – couldn’t be easier.
