On the hunt for the perfect New Year’s Eve makeup? Everyone loves a lil smoky-eye action for their party makeup, but here’s how to spice it up to give it some edge. We’ve channelled fireworks vibes and added a pop of metallic colour – and gotta say, we love the results. The best bit? You can use any accent colour you want and make the look work for you.
1. Primed to perfection
You need to pack on a lot of eyeshadow to make the look work, so priming your lids is essential to help the shadows stay all night long. Just apply a thin layer of e.l.f Shadow Lock Eye Primer in Sheer all over your eyelids.
2. Black to basics
The MUA Professional 6 Shade Palette in Smokey Shadows is perfect for this look. Apply a black eyeshadow to the inner and outer corners of the eyes, and across the crease, leaving a space in the centre of the eyelid. Use the same eyeshadow on the lower lash line, once again applying the pigment to the inner and outer corners, and leaving a space in the middle.
3. Pop eyeshadow
Now the fun bit! Pick a pop of colour to lift the look. We went for a pink shade from the I Heart Makeup Eyeshadow Palette in Chocolate Love. Pack your chosen colour onto the spaces you left free in the centre of the eyelids and lower lash lines, then blend it in with the black shadow for a seamless finish.
TOP TIP: Use a slightly damp brush for maximum colour payoff.
4. One last shimmer
Add Cassie Lomas Glitter Pigment in Shine On to the inner corners of your eyes, to brighten the look even more.
5. Final flutter
Complete the look with falsies and a little B. Kohl Eye Liner in Black on the waterline.
