Gone are the days when you’d head to the gym purely for the purpose of working out. Nowadays the spin studio is the social hang out to be spotted in and going to a yoga class with your bff has replaced your weekly coffee catch-up.
So if you still want to look your very best while you’re getting a sweat on, we’re here to tell you that you can apply a hint of makeup – as long as it’s the right kind. Opt for non-comodegenic products that won’t clog your pores and go for a post-workout cleanse to reduce the risk of any break-outs. Hands up who’s ready to get their gym glam on?
What Will I Need to Sweat-Proof Makeup for the Gym?
Revolution
Revolution HD Pro Smoky Eyeliner (Waterproof)
£3.00
Step 1 – Prime the skin
To make sure your makeup won’t slide off your face faster than you can say ‘warm-up’, start off with a pristine base. This mattifying primer is designed to reduce any added shine so can keep that sweaty sheen at bay for as long as possible.
Step 2 – Apply BB cream
Swap your usual foundation for a lightweight BB cream and apply all over the face. You can use a CC cream instead if you want to avoid blotchiness when you work out.
Step 3 & 4 – Conceal & set
For those that are conscious of their problem areas (dark circles, T-zone) lightly disguise with a concealer stick. Set with a translucent powder to stop the shine.
Step 5 – Bronze it up
Odds are you’re going to get flushed cheeks from your workout, so to conceal the colour change as much as possible go in with a touch of matte bronzer on the cheeks. We’re using an angled cheek brush for a natural finish.
Step 6 – Frame the face
Brush your brows with a spoolie to create your desired shape. Then fill in any sparse areas and define brows using a waterproof brow liner. Set with gel. This step is one not to miss if you’re heading out straight after the gym as this will ensure your brows stay put come sweat or shower.
Step 7 – Make the eyes pop
If you can’t be spotted without your signature eyeliner flick, then add definition as you normally would but make sure you use waterproof eyeliner.
Step 8 – Add mascara
And again, if you feel naked without your trusty mascara then only apply waterproof when you’re in the gym to prevent any panda eye disasters.
Step 9 – Tint to the lips
Once the blood is pumping your lips and cheeks will naturally look flushed, but to give the body a little helping hand you can apply a lip tint as opposed to a balm, gloss or lipstick.
Step 10 – Set in place
If you don’t want your makeup to budge during your workout then finish with a spritz of setting spray.
