Whether you’re going for purées or baby-led weaning, there are plenty of interesting recipes for your baby to try. The key is to offer lots of variety and not to worry if your baby only eats tiny amounts in the early days. Eating at the table together is a good way to encourage your baby to try new foods. Get started with these baby weaning recipes.
Turkey patties
Makes: 10-12 patties Time to prepare: 20 minutes Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
450g/1lb turkey mince
2 slices bread
Finely chopped peppers (optional)
Finely chopped parsley (optional)
5ml/1tsp lemon juice (optional)
1 egg for coating
Handful plain flour for coating
Rapeseed or vegetable oil for frying
Method
• Using a food processor, turn the bread into crumbs. Next, mix the turkey mince with the breadcrumbs in a large bowl. Using your hands is the easiest way. You can also add finely chopped vegetables or herbs. Place in the fridge to rest for 10 minutes.
• Whisk the egg and place in a bowl. Put the flour in another bowl or tray.
• Make small patty shapes out of the turkey mixture, dip in the egg and then coat with flour. Set aside for cooking.
• Place the oil in a large non-stick frying pan, bring to a medium-high temperature and cook the patties on each side for 2 minutes. Turn down the heat and cook for a further 3-4 minutes each side.
• Serve with steamed carrot batons or bite-sized steamed broccoli florets.

Pork and apricot stew
Serves: 2 Time to prepare: 15 minutes Cooking time: 12 minutes
Ingredients
50g lean pork mince
Rapeseed or vegetable oil for frying
2 apricots, chopped finely (or use ½ apple peeled and chopped finely)
½ courgette, chopped finely
½ sweet potato, chopped finely
50ml water
50ml apple juice
1 pinch dried cinnamon
Method
• Lightly fry the mince to brown
• Put all the remaining ingredients into a saucepan and simmer until well cooked (about 10 minutes).
• Drain the fruit and vegetable mix but keep the cooking water. Add the meat to the fruit and vegetable mix and mash to the desired consistency, adding extra cooking water if required.
