It opens up important conversations about what it actually means, helping you feel in the know and empowered to find your voice when it comes to all things consent. In this blog post from the series, Switchboard, a LGBTQIA+ inclusive charity, shares resources and advice for anyone needing to speak to someone about sex or sexual health.
A LGBTQIA+ helpline from Switchboard
Consent is crucial regardless of your sexual orientation. Switchboard has been providing support and information to millions of people since their phones started ringing in 1974. Throughout their history, they have been at the forefront of supporting communities in facing the issues of the day.
Switchboard provides support on the phone, and through their email and instant messaging services, to people from across the UK. The support is for anyone who may be feeling isolated in their community, or they may be coming out and want to talk to somebody who has also been through it, they may have an issue that is concerning them and need to talk it through with somebody who will not judge them, they may want to ask how to put a condom on without being embarrassed, or they may just need to know where they can meet other people in their area.
If you identify as LGBTQIA+ and would like to speak to someone who also identifies as LGBTQIA+ about sex, sexual health or whatever is on your mind, Switchboard’s volunteers are available 365 days a year from 10am-10pm to speak with you.
