Product Information
Pepto Bismol Oral Suspension is used in those aged 16 years and over for fast relief of indigestion, heartburn, nausea and upset stomach. It can also be used to help control diarrhoea.
Warning or Restrictions
Do not use if:
•Under 16 years due to a possible reaction between salicylates and Reye's syndrome (a very rare but very serious disease)
•Allergic to salicylates including aspirin or any of the other ingredients
•Taking other salicylates including aspirin
•Pregnant or breast-feeding
This product may cause a temporary and harmless darkening of the stool and/or tongue.
Warning: this product contains amaranth (colouring) which may cause allergic type reactions including asthma.
•Please consult your pharmacist or doctor before using this medicine if you are currently pregnant, likely to get pregnant or breastfeeding.
•Please consult your pharmacist or doctor if you are currently taking any other medicines as this may cause an interaction.
•If you think you may be allergic to any of the ingredients contained in this medicine, please seek medical advice before taking.
•If you have any questions after you have bought this medication, please speak to your pharmacist.
Product Specification
Active ingredients: bismuth subsalicylate (526 mg in each 30ml dose).
Other ingredients: aluminium magnesium silicate, methylcellulose, methyl salicylate, salicylic acid, sorbic acid, benzoic acid, saccharin sodium salicylate, amaranth and water.

Product Uses
Adults and children over 16 years only:
•Shake the bottle well before use
•Pour 30ml (one dose) into the cup provided and swallow.
•Repeat the dose every 30-60 minutes if needed.
•Do not take more than 8 doses in 24 hours
•If used for longer than 2 days, or in higher doses than recommended has been associated with an increased in side effects.
•If you have diarrhoea, it is important to prevent or treat dehydration by drinking plenty of fluids or taking oral rehydration products, especially if you are frail or elderly.
