Key ingredient
Moisturisers for Oily Skin
Moisturising when you have oily skin may sound counter intuitive. Like why would you add more moisture to a skin type that already has surplus of all things slick and greasy? But did you know, by not applying moisturiser your skin can become even oilier. Wait, what?
Yes, you heard right. By not applying a moisturiser for oily skin, this can cause your skin to over produce oil, making your skin even more greasy as it is trying to make up for the lack of moisture, as moisture and oil are not the same thing! Makes perfect sense, right? Maybe not, but by applying a moisturiser that is suitable for greasy and acne-prone skin, you can have moisturised skin without the oil with an oil-free moisturiser, which hydrates, but doesn’t encourage oil production or add additional oil, which is light-weight in texture, so you don’t feel cakey or heavy.
It’ known oily skin = spotty skin. So next time your searching for a face cream, try looking out for one that boasts non-comedogenic ingredients. This means it contains ingredients that won’t block your pores which will reduce the risk of spots, whilst quenching your skins thirst. Whilst you’re looking at the ingredient list of you face cream, see if you can spot hyaluronic acid. You may have heard of this ingredient before for its moisturising properties, but it is an oil free ingredient too, making it great as a face cream for oily skin.
