Faces of the Future Terms & Conditions

Entering the Competition
- Entry to Superdrug’s Faces of the Future competition run via Instagram (the “Competition”) is open to UK residents aged 16 and over, except employees of Superdrug Stores plc (“Superdrug”) or any related companies, Pegasus Public Relations Limited (“Pegasus”), their families, agents or anyone professionally connected with the Competition.
- No purchase is necessary to enter the Competition.
- To enter the Competition, you must complete the following by 23:59 on 20 March 2020:
- post a 60 second video on your Instagram grid setting out your cause and why you should be one of our next Faces of the Future, detailing all of the following:
- information regarding your cause, including the problem you want to solve, the issue you want to tackle and/or the change you want to make;
- how you want to solve this problem including what steps you have already taken (if any) to drive the project forward;
- why this change is needed; and
- how this change benefits the future;
- follow @superdrug
- tag both @superdrug and @superdrugpr in your post; and
- use the hashtag #SDFacesOfTheFuture.
- post a 60 second video on your Instagram grid setting out your cause and why you should be one of our next Faces of the Future, detailing all of the following:
- There is a limit of one entry per person. Multiple entries or entries that are delivered late, are illegible, incomplete, damaged or otherwise not in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be accepted. Entries made through agents, third parties, organised groups or any entry duplication method will not be accepted.
- If you are under 18, you must obtain parental or guardian consent to enter and claim the prize. Superdrug and Pegasus will require proof of age and such parent or guardian consent in writing (which may include email), and may award the prize to another winner should this not be provided. The parent or guardian will also be required to accompany the winner to all elements of the prize.
- Superdrug and Pegasus reserve the right to disqualify entries which are, or may reasonably be considered to be, defamatory, offensive, obscene, indecent, libellous, hateful, racially or religiously biased or offensive, unlawfully threatening or unlawfully harassing to any individual, partnership, corporation or entity or if Superdrug or Pegasus have reasonable grounds to believe that you have breached any of these terms and conditions.
- You confirm that you are the creator and owner of the video which you submit as part of the Competition. You agree that you have obtained any necessary consents, including permission from any third parties featuring in the entry.
Prize
- There will be 3 competition winners.
- The winners will each receive:
- guidance and support from the date the prize is claimed up to and including 31 October 2020 from Superdrug and Pegasus on how to take their cause forward, including:
- promotion of their cause on Superdrug’s media channels including social media, in-store radio and DARE magazine (further details at condition 10);
- PR support from Pegasus, including 1 day of media interviews (further details at condition 11); and
- a 1 day visit to Superdrug’s head office in Croydon for campaign support and promotion including a mentoring workshop with Jo Jones, co-founder of charity Beauty Banks, Ella Daish, environmental activist, Char Ellesse, gender campaigner, and Georgia Rankin, disability advocate and influencer (further details at condition 12); and
- a copy of a digital toolkit produced by Superdrug called ‘Faces of the Future: a beginner’s toolkit to campaigning’.
- guidance and support from the date the prize is claimed up to and including 31 October 2020 from Superdrug and Pegasus on how to take their cause forward, including:
- The winners will have their causes promoted in several posts on the @superdrug and @superdrugpr Instagram channels up to 31 October 2020 after they have claimed their prize. Instagram posts will be individually tailored to each winner and inform Superdrug’s followers about the winner and their cause. The winners, along with details of their causes, will be announced on Superdrug’s in-store radio and will have a feature included in the September/October issue of DARE magazine.
- Each winner will be required to take part in one-to-one interviews with regional media outlets. These interviews may be via telephone or in person. If the interviews are in person, Pegasus will attend the media interviews alongside the winner (and parent or guardian if required), will arrange for the winner to be photographed and will distribute the winner’s photograph to the relevant media outlets. Superdrug and Pegasus will arrange the date on which the interviews will take place with each of the 3 winners, to be on a weekday no later than 30 June 2020. The winners (and their parent or guardian if required) will receive return private taxi transfers from their home address to the location of the media interviews (save where they are conducted by telephone).
- Superdrug will arrange with all 3 winners a suitable date that all 3 winners can attend the 1 day visit to Croydon for the mentoring workshop, which will take place between 1 July 2020 and 14 August 2020. All 3 winners will be required to attend the same date. The winners will be invited to arrive the day before. The workshop will be filmed and photographed. Dinner the night of arrival and lunch on the day of the workshop will be included.
- The winners (and their parent/guardian if required) will each receive for the mentoring workshop:
- on the day prior to the workshop, return standard class train travel from their local train station to Croydon or return economy flights to London from their local airport (whichever is cheaper);
- private transfer from the train station or airport (as applicable) to the hotel;
- 1 night’s accommodation in a minimum 4-star hotel (standard double or twin room) (including breakfast) in Croydon;
- a dinner at a local restaurant with members of the Superdrug and Pegasus marketing teams on the night of arrival. Please note that any alcohol included in the provision of this prize will be strictly for those over the age of 18 and I.D. shall be required;
- transfer from the hotel to Superdrug’s head office in East Croydon on the day of the workshop;
- lunch on the day of the workshop. Please note that alcohol is not included and will not be permitted; and
- private transfer from Superdrug’s head office to the train station or airport (as applicable).
- The prize does not include travel insurance, the cost of transfers to and from airports or local train stations from the winner’s home address or food and drink, spending money, tax or personal expenses other than as referred to above. Any other costs incurred in addition to those set out above and that are incidental to the fulfilment of the prize are the responsibility of the winners.
- Where a parent or guardian is required to attend, the winner and their parent or guardian must travel together, departing from and returning to the same location at the same time and on the same itinerary.
- The winner will be responsible for ensuring that they (and their parent or guardian if required) are available to travel and hold valid passports (if required).
- By entering the Competition, you acknowledge that certain elements of the prize are outside of Superdrug’s control. Superdrug will not be liable for any such instances.
Selecting the Winners
- An independent judge will review all eligible entries by 9 April 2020 and provide a shortlist of 20 entries to a panel of judges on 10 April 2020. The panel judges, along with the independent judge, will select the 3 final winners by 19 April 2020. The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The panel judges are Jo Jones (co-founder of Beauty Banks), Ella Daish (environmental activist and founder of #plasticfreeeriods), Char Ellesse (gender campaigner and founder of Girls Will Be Boys) and Georgia Rankin (disability advocate and influencer at @makeupjunkieg ). The independent judge is Betty Lewis-Griffiths (freelance communications consultant at The Social Club).
- Further details of the Competition judges can be found at www.superdrug.com/csr/faces-of-the-future and are correct as at their date of publication. Superdrug and Pegasus reserve the right to appoint new/substitute judges for reasons outside its reasonable control (including, but not limited to, in the case of illness, unavoidable absence, or conflict of interest of any of the judges).
- When choosing the winning entries, the judges will be looking at the following criteria in the video:
- originality and innovation of the chosen cause and the impact it would have;
- a clear passion for and knowledge about the chosen cause; and
- the commitment, encouragement and activism you demonstrate to the chosen cause.
- The 3 winners will be notified by 20 April 2020 by direct message from the @thisispegasus Instagram account to the Instagram account that the original Competition entry came from.
- Unless otherwise stated, the winners must claim their prize within 7 days of notification. If they do not do so, then Superdrug and Pegasus reserve the right to offer the prize to an alternative winner selected in accordance with these terms and conditions.
- Any decision of Superdrug or Pegasus as to eligibility to take part in the Competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. Superdrug and Pegasus accept no responsibility for entries that are delivered late, are illegible, incomplete, damaged or otherwise not in accordance with these terms and conditions, whether due to failure or non-availability of www.instagram.com or any other reason.
Publishing the winning entries
- The winning entries will be published on Superdrug’s website at www.superdrug.com/csr/faces-of-the-future and on Superdrug’s social media channels from 1 May 2020.
- You agree that Superdrug may make your entry available on any media, whether now known or invented in the future, and in connection with any publicity of the competition. You agree to grant Superdrug a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the competition entry, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the Competition entry for such purposes.
- By entering the Competition, you agree that your personal data will be used by Superdrug for the sole purpose of administering this Competition and in accordance with Superdrug’s Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy can be found at www.superdrug.com/page/privacypolicy. See also condition 32 regarding the announcement of the winners.
- There is no cash alternatives to the prize or any element of it. The prize or any element of it cannot be exchanged or transferred by you.
- Superdrug and Pegasus reserve the right to delay, postpone or cancel the Competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
- The winners’ surnames and counties will be available on request for one month after the prizes have been claimed by sending an email to superdrug@thisispegasus.co.uk. You may object to the disclosure of this information by sending an email to superdrug@thisispegasus.co.uk by 27 April 2020. The information shall nevertheless be made available to the Advertising Standards Authority upon request.
- To the extent permissible by law, Superdrug and Pegasus accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the Competition or accepting the prize.
- This Competition is administered by Pegasus. All correspondence regarding this Competition should be directed to superdrug@thisispegasus.co.uk or you can call Pegasus on 01273 712000.
- The Competition and these terms and conditions are subject to English law. Any disputes must be referred to the English Courts.
- You fully release Instagram from any liability in connection with the Competition.
- This promotion is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with Instagram and you are providing information to Superdrug NOT Instagram.
