Gel Nail Remover
You’ve finally mastered the art of giving yourself the perfect DIY gel nail manicure from the comfort of your own home, however it’s been a couple of week and your gel nails are starting to look a little grown out and it’s time to remove them and figure out how to remove gel nail polish. First things first, you will need to get hold of some gel nail remover, which contains acetone, an ingredient you can often find in regular nail polish remover however, gel polish removers contain pure acetone – a more potent, neat version that works harder to remove shellac and gel polish. It’s recommended before you start your removal process that you trim your nails to minimize removal time and surface area you need to work on.
To remove your gel polish, take your acetone gel nail polish remover and place in an acetone safe bowl, with one cap of acetone to 100ml of warm water, dip nails and leave them to soak for approx. 15-25 mins. An alternative method to this is to use foil wraps or soak off caps dipped in acetone, again leaving to soak. Once you have soaked your nails, you should be able to see the gel polish lifting which can be easily removed with a little pressure from cotton wool. If your gel nails aren’t quite ready, try soaking them again and using a nail stick for any awkward, hard to shift bits.
Now you’ve removed your old polish, you’ve got the easy bit out of that way. Next up, choosing what gel polish shade to go for next.
