You might have heard of vegan milk, vegan leather… but vegan nail polish? You heard us right, Superdrug has launched a new line of vegan nail polish called NailKind and we’re all shades of excited about it!
Not only is it vegan (that means zero ingredients that are animal-derived or animal by-products), but it also contains up to 85% bio-sourced ingredients, which are a lot less harsh on your delicate nail bed. But don’t be fooled – these gentle formulas pack a serious pigment punch: from delicate neutral shades to bold brights, rich reds and pretty pinks, there’s a shade to suit every beauty fan. And better yet, at £9.50 each, the polishes also won’t break the bank – boom!
Read on to find out more about this game-changing line – and give your regular manicure session an animal-friendly upgrade…
Why Vegan Nail Polish?
You may not have realised but up until recently, nail polishes have included ingredients such as ‘pearl essence’ derived from fish scales – to give the polishes that ‘shimmer’ effect; oleic acid – a thickener derived from animal fat; as well as carmine made from boiled and crushed beetles to give them a red colour. If you don’t fancy wearing crushed bugs on your nails, then vegan polish such as NailKind is probably what you should be looking for.
The great thing about NailKind is that not only are they vegan, they are also cruelty-free, which means no animal testing at any stage of production. (A product can be vegan but still be tested on animals, which is why NailKind is both.)
Even better news – the ingredients in the formulas contain fewer harsh, toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, which are often found in regular polish. Instead, they prioritise mineral and plant-based ingredients derived from wheat, potatoes and corn that won’t dry or damage your nails (and won’t pollute the environment when you come to take them off!).
Meet the Shade Range
So which of their stunning 27 shades will you choose? That depends on the look you’re going for. If you’ve got a big night out planned, then one of their dazzling shimmering shades could be your cup of tea. Lounge Lizard is a gorgeous emerald colour that flatters all nail shapes and will perfectly suit a floor-length vampish gown.
But if a fresh, daytime hue is more your thing, the sugary pink Pillow Talk is perfect for adding some pretty polish that’s perfect for the gym or the office (or anywhere else come to that!).
And if you feel like rocking a holiday vibe, it has to be Lady Marmalade – an eye-catching sunset shade that is like an energising shot of Vitamin D for your talons! We defy you not to want to collect them all!
